Day 12: Loving the Lost (27/01)
When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest." – Matthew 9:36 – 38

Harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.

That’s what Jesus saw in the people.

As ambassadors for Christ, Do we see the harvest as Jesus saw it?

When I was younger in my faith, I would see my peers as people who did not need the gospel. These friends were all well-off, happy high-flyers. This view caused me to not pray for my friends’ salvation and share with them the gospel.

I realized that in the end that my friends are harassed and helpless because of the sin that has separated them from God. They are helpless to save themselves. It is with this change in mindset that I am able to have the compassion to share with my friends.

Is there anything inhibiting us from praying for our loved ones and sharing with them about the work of salvation Jesus has done? Do we shepherd and build up other Christians, protecting them from harassment by the evil one?

Answer the call to be a labourer and pray!

Prayer and Meditation

Praying for Personal Needs:
- Pray and ask God to show you who to reach out to; be it your immediate family, friends, …or even to the seemingly unreachable.
- Ask God to help you see what He sees, that there are people around us who are harassed and helpless.
- Ask God to help us love the people He has placed around us and in our lives enough for us to want to share God with them.

Praying for the Ministry and Campus:
- Pray that as a ministry, we will catch the vision of reaching out to the lost, and share the gospel with them.
