Day 11: God’s ambassadors (26/01)

All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.
Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. – 2 Corinthians 5: 18 – 20

And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age." – Matthew 28: 18 – 20

God has commissioned us as ambassadors to share the gospel. As ambassadors we represent the kingdom of God and share in its vision and plans. The overarching plan of God’s kingdom is to reconcile people to God so that they would be able to worship Him and dwell in His glory!

Sharing the gospel is a command that God has assigned not just to a few but to all. Do we own that ministry of reconciliation? Do we make the effort to bring people to know God and the gospel?

One main thing that holds us back is fear. Fear that people will avoid us, fear of being labeled a fanatic, fear that we will not know what to say, fear of looking stupid and the list of fears goes on. But one thing clears all these fears. That is the knowledge of Jesus’ promise that He will be with us always to the end of the age. He will be our answer, our strength, our hope, our identity, our King in our ministry of reconciliation as long as we step forth and obey!

Prayer and Meditation

Praying for Personal Needs:
- Pray that God will help us conduct ourselves in the way that is pleasing to Him so that we will be a good and positive ambassador for Him.
- Pray that we will feel honored and privileged of being "instruments of righteousness unto God."
- Pray that we will be willing to be used by God to do His work.
- Pray that as we do God’s work and labour alongside with Him, we will be faithful for faithfulness is an absolute necessity for an ambassador. For an ambassador does not represent and speak for himself, but for another.

Praying for the Ministry and Campus:
- Pray for Christians from across denominations and campus ministries to unite and that we will project the right image as we serve Him in all ways.
- Pray that God will help us to realize what our roles as His ambassadors are, and that our mission is to bring the reality of His amazing grace, His empowering presence to the lost and the lonely, the hurting and wounded, those held in bondage as well as those who need hope.
- Pray that we will be faithful representatives of the Father's heart.
