Day 9 – Loving God’s People (24/01)

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.
In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him.
In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us. – 1 John 4: 7 – 12

Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. – Colossians 3:12 – 13

God loves everyone… Except that brother who keeps pointing out my faults and tells me to change. Except that irresponsible sister who does not do well in ministry. Except that guy who keeps disagreeing with me. Except that lady who gossips… and the list goes on.

That’s not what the Bible says. For God so loved the world! As far as the world is concerned, it means everyone who is in it! We need to remember that God has accepted and forgiven each and every person we see and interact within the body of Christ

We will sometimes be offended by another person but let us as Paul wrote in Colossians, “put on compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another… forgiving each other… put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.”

Put on love as how God loved us. Be willing to lay down your rights, your time, your talents, all that God has blessed you with, to love and serve the body of Christ.
